Overall Score: 82
- Story/Setting: - 8/15
- There is very little story and it's only in the readme. As with the tradition of the other games I have judged this compo, this is only worth 8 points maximum.
- Functionality: - 22/25
- The game seems top function very well. I could find no bugs (ha). However, it was not very obvious at frist that I was supposed to press the n key to start a new game. Also the Press any key to exit appears to really be "Press any key except space to exit. For these two things I will take off 3 points, giving you 22/25.
- Graphic Continuity: - 20/25
- No screenshot can top Vexo's own:

The graphics are pretty good looking but I'm docking 5 points for the background. MY EYES BLEED. Add flashes and you have a recipe for epilepsy. The bugs are authentic looking, but the little bug squasher ship looks odd. I won't take points off for that though, it seems to fit regardless.
- Immersion: - 18/20
- This game is pretty fun, though the strategy is a bit odd. I would have liked faster "bullets." They wouldn't need to be much faster, just a tiny bit. I'd say the game is about 90% fun, so you get 18/20. The game is pretty good.
- Rules and Misc: - 14/15
- The random name generator is pretty smart, though I can't imagine bugs with names like that :) 3 points for the name rule. The spirit rule was slightly followed so I give 2 points for that. The screenshot and player action rules were followed very well, so 3 points each there. Finally 3 points for the spring rule, since the game does pretty well with that.
A nice game overall. The score server idea was nice but I gave nothing extra for that. However it does help Vexo personally to know about doing minor netcode :) |
